What is Functional Medicine?

Functional Medicine is not the same as traditional medicine, which is really about sick care.  Traditional medicine is focused on diagnosing and treating disease.  Functional medicine is focused on the science of creating health.   It reframes our whole perspective to get to root causes rather than just downstream symptoms.  Medicine is sort of divided into specialties and different focuses on organs and different parts or systems, but in reality, your body is one whole ecosystem.  On top of that, our bodies live in a larger ecosystem with things like environmental factors, toxins, our diet, stress, allergens, and so forth, interrupt our biology.  We may have environmental stressors or we may lack certain things we need like. the right food, nutrients, amounts of hormones, light, clean air, clean water, sleep, social connection, emotional connection, movement, etc., all these things are ingredients for health. So functional medicine is about identifying the root causes of diseases or maladies and adressing those root causes to get the body back to an allostatic state.  This could mean we provide the body (and mind) with the things it is lacking that it needs to thrive.  Or this could mean eliminating the things that are in the way of the body thriving.   Your body has this natural intelligence and healing system that allows your body to repair, heal, renew, and when you create health, disease goes away as a side effect.

Fatigue, Decreased Sex Drive, Weight Gain, Mood Swings, Loss of Strength, Onset of Chronic Disease...

Let’s figure out what’s really causing these!

HRT for Men

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for men focuses on optimizing hormone levels through bioidentical hormone pellets. These pellets are implanted under the skin and release consistent doses of testosterone over time, closely mimicking the body’s natural hormone release patterns.

The EvexiPEL method stands out because it uses high-quality, bioidentical hormones formulated to reduce inflammation, promote comfort, and deliver stable hormone levels over several months. This approach helps alleviate symptoms of low testosterone, such as fatigue, reduced libido, weight gain, and mood swings, while requiring fewer office visits compared to other HRT methods.

Developed by Dr. Terri DeNeui, the method integrates a functional medicine approach, addressing not just hormone imbalances but also the overall health and lifestyle of the patient to achieve optimal results.

HRT for Women

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for women using the EvexiPEL Method focuses on bioidentical hormone pellet therapy, which addresses imbalances in hormones like estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. The EvexiPEL method uses hormone pellets that are inserted under the skin and slowly release hormones over time, providing a consistent delivery without the daily fluctuations associated with other methods like creams or pills.

This method is particularly effective for managing symptoms of menopause or perimenopause, including hot flashes, mood swings, low energy, and weight gain. Unlike conventional HRT, the EvexiPEL approach is highly personalized, with practitioners considering the patient’s full medical history, lifestyle, and specific symptoms. The hormone pellets are custom-compounded for each patient to ensure optimal results.

The EvexiPEL method is designed not only to treat hormone imbalances but also to promote overall wellness by integrating functional medicine principles, leading to improved vitality and quality of life.
